To ensure maximum effectiveness and a clear view over time, your film can be cleaned with a mild, ammonia-free cleansing agent and non-abrasive materials like sponges or hard squeegees. Avoid using the same sponge for the inside, outside, and window sills.

Typically, security films are applied on the interior side of the glass, improving its resistance to attempted break-ins. Certain films, like anti-graffiti films, are applied to the exterior surface of glass, where vandalism is more likely to occur.

The short answer is no, there is no such thing as bulletproof window film. The goal of safety and security window films is to prevent shattering on impact, deter unwanted entry, and keep the property and inhabitants safe from dangerous glass shards.

Security film is a 7-mm or thicker window film composed of microlayers of heavy-duty polyester applied with durable adhesive. Security window film mitigates both shattering and forced entry. Strength levels can vary depending on the number of layers in the film.

There are a couple of crucial things to keep in mind. First, while security films may resist and deter forced entry, they are not completely impenetrable. Security films prevent smash-and-grab attempts by slowing them down. Secondly, it’s important to inform local law enforcement of your installation. This will help them to better protect both you and your property.

In general, security window film is expected to last the lifespan of the window under proper conditions. Until your window is damaged (whereupon your security film performs its most important function), your film can go unreplaced.
